Convert JFIF to PNG online
JFIF means JPEG File Interchange Format. It stores JPEG compressed image data, so browsers and many apps read it as a JPEG even when the filename ends in .jfif. Convert JFIF to PNG here when a website, form, document app, or image editor does not accept that extension.
What changes when you convert?
PNG uses lossless compression, but converting a JFIF image to PNG cannot restore details already lost to JPEG compression. The PNG may also be larger than the original. This conversion changes the file format and extension, not the image’s existing quality. If you need a smaller upload afterward, use the image compressor.
How to convert a JFIF file
- Select or drop one or more JFIF or JPEG images.
- Choose Convert to PNG and review the converted preview.
- Download each PNG separately or download multiple results together.
Choose the format your app accepts
If a form rejects the JFIF extension but accepts JPEG, use JFIF to JPG. That tool changes the filename extension without re-encoding the JPEG data. For a website that accepts WebP, try JFIF to WebP. WebP conversion re-encodes the image, so inspect the result before using it. You can also convert standard JPEG images with our JPG to PNG converter or convert PNG to WebP using the PNG to WebP converter.
Frequently asked questions
Will PNG restore the quality of my JFIF image?
No. PNG encoding does not reverse detail loss from JPEG compression. It keeps the decoded image as it is during conversion, but the PNG file may take up more storage.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser. The source image is not sent to our conversion server.
Can I convert multiple JFIF images?
Yes. Select several supported files, convert them together, then download the converted files or collect them in a ZIP.
